Salman Khan may be the latest star from Bollywood to hop onto the IPL bandwagon. The superstar has been in talks with the Indian Premier League chairman and commissioner Lalit Modi regarding buying a new team for the fourth edition of the IPL Twenty20 tournament which will be held in 2011. Seen as a money minting event, IPL is set to introduce two new teams - Kochi and Nagpur. The league presently has eight teams. On Wednesday, Salman Khan had a formal meeting with Lalit Modi and he discussed with him the nitty-gritty of buying an IPL team. “We were having a discussion for last few months but this is our first official meeting,” Modi told a news agency, adding that Salman seemed like a “serious buyer”.
Mr. Modi also admitted that many other celebrities like Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgan have expressed interest in buying the two new IPL franchises. Presently, stars like Shahrukh Khan, Juhi Chawla, Preity Zinta and Shilpa Shetty have stakes in the IPL teams.
