Gambhir wins Castrol Cricketer of the Year Award

Opener Gautam Gambhir has been named as the Castrol Cricketer of the Year 2008 on Thursday. There is a double pleasure for star Indian opener Gautam Gambhir, as he not only won the Castrol Cricketer of the Year 2008, but also was declared fit for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy to be held in South Africa. Gambhir will fly along with the Indian squad for the Champions Trophy. He missed out the Compaq Cup due to injury.
Gautam Gambhir edged out his buddy Virender Sehwag to win the Castrol Cricketer of the Year 2008, which carried a trophy and Rs 5 lakh. Gambhir has scored over 1000 runs each both in Tests and ODIs in 2008. He also won the 'Best Batsman of the Year' award. Harbhajan Singh won the 'Best Bowler of the Year' award.
