Light to Moderate rain in Rajasthan after long time

After a long wait there is little bit smile on the face of farmers and people in rajasthan.The monsoon has become active again in the eastern part of the state following formation of low pressure over north-west Bay of Bengal. It brought in a pleasant spell of rain on Wednesday, providing some reprieve to the long-suffering people of Pink City. According to the Met office, there is an indication that the monsoon will remain active for the next few days. Rain or thundershowers would occur at many places in East Rajasthan, Haryana and Delhi, the weathermen forecast. On Wednesday, Jaipur airport received 12.4 mm of rain. However, many areas in Alwar, Dholpur, Baran, Bharatpur, Dausa, Jaipur, Karauli, Sawai Madhopur and Jhalawar received moderate to heavy rain.
The average rainfall of the state between June to August 2009 was 323.09 mm against the average normal rainfall of 450.43 mm, i.e. 28.27% less than normal rainfall, which is categorised as ‘deficit’. Following some heavy showers in the last leg of the monsoon season, the rain situation improved to normal position in seven districts, namely Barmer, Bharatpur, Chittorgarh, Dungarpur, Pratapgarh, Rajsamand and Udaipur, while deficit rainfall has been received in 26 other districts in the state.
