Notice to TV Serial Sach ka Samana

The National Commission for Women has decided to serve notice to producers and broadcasters of Sach-Ka-Samana. Talking to reporters here today, Commission chairperson Girija Vyas said the serial, broadcast on Star Plus, indulged in a "unfair" bid of encroachment in one's personal life and put in peril domestic peace in several families. Nobody, including a producer or channel, is supposed to make public one's personal life in the manner being done in the programme, she said.
Ms Vyas, a sitting Lok Sabha MP, said the programme had evoked sharp resentment among the masses, and the Commission had received a number of complaints in this regard. "We are serving them with the notice," Ms Vyas said.
tating that the Commission was concerned over abetment of domestic violence and indecent presentation of women and children on TV channels, she said the Commission was in favour of effective amendments in the Prohibition of Indecent Representation of Women and Children Act 1986 and to bring the electronic media, including teleads, internet sites and blogs, under its ambit. A detailed recommendatory note in this regard had been sent to the government.
