No Entrance test this year for PhD at Rajasthan University

Rajasthan University Academic Council has decided to go ahead with PHD registrations without entrance test. This decision was taken in a meeting on Monday. The academic council consists of every head of the post-graduate department and deans of every department in RU. A D Sawant, vice-chancellor, Rajasthan University has directed the Trivedi Committee to re-draft the suggestions made by them for PHD programmes. Notably, the committee was constituted to draft an ordinance in pursuance of the adoption of University Grants Commission minimum standard for awarding of MPhil/PhD Degree regulation 2009.
During the meeting, the members raised their objections on the committee report and claimed that some guidelines are not in accordance with the UGC guidelines for the same. “The committee had ignored the UGC guidelines by lowering the eligibility criteria from 55% in postgraduation to 48% in the PG exam,” said academic council member.
