Virendra sehwag rises to No. 1 Rank in Test Cricket

World's most distructive batsman and Indian opener virendra Sehwag displaced his opening partner Gautam Gambhir from the top spot in latest test ranking by ICC. Dazzling Virender Sehwag rose to the top of ICC Test rankings for batsmen after his two consecutive tons in the just concluded India-South Africa test series. Sehwag now has 863 rating points and has displaced his opening partner Gautam Gambhir from the number one rank.
Sehwag smashed a quick-fire 165 in the first innings of the Kolkata Test after his 109-run knock in the first innings of the first match in Nagpur. Sehwag has had other impressive scores of late, inclduing the near triple century against Sri Lanka. Gambhir's poor run in the series means he has fallen to the fifth spot. Zaheer Khan is the top ranked Indian among bowlers at sixth while off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, who was instrumental in India winning the Kolkata Test with a five-wicket haul in South Africa's second innings, is one rung below at seventh, in the list headed by Dale Steyn.
