ASSOCHAM to offer free DTP training for poor in Rajasthan

As part of its “affirmative action” for weaker sections, the Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham) has sponsored a free desktop publishing (DTP) course for Dalit, tribal and minority youngsters to equip them to initiate self-employment ventures and compete for the private sector jobs. The two-month course, sponsored by the Assocham Foundation for Inclusive Growth, is the third in a series supported by the industry body amid calls by the government and the society for support of industrial magnates to the marginalised sections, stopping short of reservation, to improve their competence and aptitude.
The Assocham has engaged a Jaipur-based non-government organisation, Progressive Muslim Social Circle (PMSC), for conducting the course for 50 poor youths belonging Scheduled Castes and Tribes and minority communities with the focus on making them employable. Rajasthan Government's Additional Director, Industries, S. K. Gupta, said at the inaugural function here on Sunday that there was a huge potential for youngsters in DTP and computer designing if they were equipped with a sound technical knowledge. Social activist and former District Judge Rao Usman Ali said the training would enable the youths to overcome their capacity constraints while looking for jobs in the highly competitive private sector.
