Court deny Narco test for Ajmer dargah blast accused

Rajasthan Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) mulled over taking Devendra Gupta, accused in the Ajmer dargah blast of 2007, to Madhya Pradesh to explore his links there, an Ajmer court on Thursday reversed a lower court’s decision last week which allowed narco test on Gupta. Ajmer district and sessions judge P K Agarwal on Thursday set aside a decision on Gupta’s narco analysis. “Keeping in mind the Supreme Court’s recent order on narco analysis, the Ajmer court ordered that the ATS could conduct a narco test on Gupta only after his consent,” said Gupta’s counsel Laxmikant Sharma, adding that the ATS would have to follow all guidelines as set by the apex court in conducting the narco test. The Ajmer chief judicial magistrate on May 3 had granted the ATS permission to conduct narco tests on Gupta.
Meanwhile, senior ATS officials maintained that they were considering taking Gupta to Madhya Pradesh in their ongoing investigation into the 2007 Ajmer Dargah blast. “He was recently taken to Jamtara in Jharkhand and we now believe there might be a link in MP as well,” a senior official said.
