Rajasthan govt seize Lakshmi Vilas Hotel Jaipur

Lakshmi Vilas Heritage Hotel Jaipur has been seized by the state government. As per Rajasthan High Court order, Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) on Thursday evicted the occupants of the heritage property with 40 palatial rooms and put its own seal on it. The adjoining prime property Kanak Bhawan, too has been seized. Surrounded by rolling meadows, long walking/jogging tracks, a golf course, a football ground and a polo ground, the Lakshmi Vilas was a popular tourist destination ever since it was converted into a heritage hotel in the early seventies.
In 1986, Bhawani Singh sold both — Lakshmi Vilas as well as Kanak Bhawan. Till Thursday, Laxmi Vilas was with Madan Lal Sharma and Ram Das Atar whereas Kanak Bhawan belonged to H C Gupta. The three families were using parts of the properties for residential purpose also. However, JDA had challenged sale of the two properties. Under Rajasthan State Land Acquisition Act, the Urban Improvement Trust (UIT), a wing of the state government, had in 1973 acquired 322-bigha land in Rambagh Complex for public utility. As per UIT claim, the above two structures were part of the “acquired” 322-bigha land. The JDA action on Thursday came in response to the explanation sought by a division bench of the Rajasthan High Court in Jaipur on Wednesday as to why the previous court order was not complied with. The court had on May 10 ordered removal of “encroachment” on properties on the Rambagh Complex premises. The court had also asked the government to take possession of Kanak Bhawan and Lakshmi Vilas Hotel, which are also on Rambagh Complex premises.

  1. pls get your facts correct, your loose steps could cause huge losses.

With reference to the context according to the instructions the land acquisition for Rambagh Campus, the notification of Section-4 of Rajasthan land acquisition Act dated 24.03.73 and notification of section 6 dated 11.07.74 and award dated 18.10.93 only the vacant land was acquired. In the Kabza Fard of acquired land possession of only the vacant land leaving aside the construction work has been mentioned besides this the state government order No. P/19/32/vide/2/87 dated 08.09.89 Lakshmi Vilas Hotel was exempted from ceiling for 18000 sq. metre land for hotel purpose. All these facts do not show any intention of acquiring land of constructed area of Hotel Laxmi Vilas. Despite this, if JDA considered the aforementioned land to be acquired land, then why did it grant permission in 1993 for additional construction? After this what were such compelling circumstances owing to which construction work was stopped by letter dated 02.01.96 of JDA. It is clear from all the above facts that in this case M/s. Lakshmi Vilas Hotel has been unnecessarily harassed. Therefore, responsibility be pinned down on those involved in stopping the construction work through unfair means and a proposal be presented to take action against such officers.
