BJP demands EC to freeze Congress election symbol

The BJP state legal cell has urged the Election Commission to freeze the Congress' election symbol Palm(Hand). In a representation made to the commission today the cell convener Yogendra Singh Tanwar stated that palm is not only a human body part but it also resembles with a number of religious symbols. He said that the use of human body part or a religious symbol for a political party in election was against the spirits of the Constitution. "Therefore, the present symbol of the Congress must be withdrawn and accordingly some suitable symbol must be allotted," Mr Tanwar said.
