CM Gehlot launches affordable housing scheme in Rajasthan

More than 20,500 houses will be built on affordable cost for Economically Weaker Sections (EWSs), lower income group and middle-income group in six towns of Rajasthan under the Private Public Partnership(PPP) Housing Scheme launched by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot today. Addressing the newspersons here, Mr Gehlot said a maximum of 14,441 multi-storey flats would be built for people belonging to different sections in and around the state capital under the scheme launched under the newly formulated Affordable Housing Policy. Besides the Pink City, the scheme is being launched in Udaipur, Bhiwadi(Alwar), Ajmer, Dausa and Kuchamancity(Nagaur), the Chief Minister said. Over 1.25 lakh houses were targeted to be constructed under the scheme in next four years, he added.
The public-private partnership module for affordable housing scheme ‘Sahbhagita Awas Yojna’, was officially launched on Friday. The application forms for the various schemes being developed under the module will be available from June 21. Releasing the manual, chief minister Ashok Gehlot said efforts will be initiated to extend the benefits of the scheme to small towns and villages. “The state government plans to develop 1.25 lakh affordable houses over the next five years under the scheme. Currently, it has been implemented in few towns, and soon it will be extended to all 33 districts in the state” said Gehlot. The chief minister asked more private developers and financial institutions to contribute towards providing affordable housing for citizens.
