Rajasthan govt seek Centre's assistance to RMSA, RTE

The Rajasthan government has urged the Union government to provide financial assistance for better implementation of the Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA), Right to Education (RTE) Act and several other schemes in the state. ''Earlier, it was decided that the RMSA would be financed by the Centre and state governments on 55:45 sharing basis. After our request, the Centre agreed on 65:35 sharing basis. Even this assistance is not enough for our state due to its geographical condition,'' Rajasthan Education Minister Bhanwar Lal Meghwal said yesterday at the 57th meeting of the Central Advisory Board of Education(CABE), chaired by Union Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal.
''Free of cost benefits are being provided to girl students of class sixth and eighth of Kasturba Gandhi Residential Schools in 186 blocks of the state,'' he added. He urged the Centre for assistance as the state has been planning to open 1990 schools this year, besides providing several facilities in at least 11,000 schools. ''The Centre should also provide financial assistance to implement the Right to Education Act in the state,'' Mr Meghwal said and informed that the state government has constituted five task forces to implement RTE.
