Ajmer and other Civic election in Rajasthan on August 18

Ajmer Municipal Corporation and 125 other civic bodies in 31 districts of Rajasthan will go to polls on August 18 next. State Election Commissioner AK Pandey told reporters here today that the election process would start with the issuance of notification on August 2. Nominations would be filed between August 2 and 6, scrutiny would be done on August 7 and withdrawals could be held by August 9, Mr Pandey said. Polling at 4142 polling stations would be held on August 18 and counting of votes would be held on August 20, he said. The election on the post of Mayor(one), Chairpersons(2) and Presidents(123) would also be held through direct ballot. Besides this, as many Deputy Mayor(10), Deputy Chairpersons(2), Deputy Presidents(123) and 3096 ward members would also be elected. Model code of conduct in view of the polls has come into force with immediate effect, Mr Pandey added.
