Flood in Punjab, Haryana, Farmers hope in Rajasthan !

Whatever we call it but it is true, the recent heavy rain in northern india specially in punjab and haryana brings life on halt while same flood like situation of Punjab and Haryana, brings a hope for northern rajasthan's farmer who are waiting for proper mansoon rain and water supply from last 10 years. Ghaggar river of punjab and haryana which is playing role of Bihar's kosi from lat 3-4 days. Punjab and Haryana have so far claimed 32 lives and despite flood water receding in worst-hit Ambala and Kurukshetra districts, the situation continued to remain worrisome with flooding of new areas today, officials said. About 12 villages in Haryana's Fatehabad district were submerged in flood waters as a breach occurred in a dam on Ghaggar river at Rampura village. Some parts of Moga in Punjab were also affected due to the breach as flood waters reached Nihalsingwala area. Rain has cost Haryana a loss of at least Rs 650 crore; crops worth Rs 400 crore have been damaged. The estimated damage to the roads is Rs 205 crore and the irrgation network has also been damaged. The loss could be about Rs 50 crore.
While on other side Ghaggar river's water is really hope for rajajasthan's farmers living in hanumangarh, ganaganagar and other nearby district as river is empty from many years which deepen water crises in these areas. After construction of dam on Ghaggar river rajasthan hardly gets water from this river as last year. Rajasthan gets total 4000 Qsecs water from this year in sept. 2009 which even can't cross ganganagar district while this year after heavy rain in HP, Punjab and haryana on saturday river is flowing with 3000 Qsecs water and rajasthan hope for better water supply from these states rises.
