Rajasthan gets first Rural court of Country when Union Law Minister M Veerappa Moily on Saturday inaugurated Rajasthan's first gram nyayalaya at a subordinate court premises in Bassi town of the district. "The gram nyayalaya is the concept for taking justice to the village door-step and will prove helpful in decreasing pendency of the cases," Moily said on the occasion. Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot was also present at the event, where both leaders laid the foundation stone for the building. The state government, which has targeted to set up 135 rural courts, has sanctioned 45 new ones, he said. Gehlot said that the state government was targeting to open one rural court at each panchayat samiti headquarters for providing justice at local level.
He said the concept of Gram Nyayalaya launched on October 2, 2009 would prove to be a milestone for solving so many problems and disputes and would lead the country a step ahead for realisation of Mahatma Gandhi's dream of Gram Suraj. Highlighting the importance of rural courts, Mr Moily said, ''This is a silent revolution taking justice to village door step to reach out and extend benefit to common man.'' Like faster and inclusive growth, inclusive justice delivery was also equally important as justice is the fundamental right of every citizen. He said Rajasthan had taken a lead but this had to be taken as movement throughout the country.
