Rajasthan Cabinet to review Rajiv Awas Yojana

Rajasthan cabinet today expressed satisfaction over the administrative preparedness for implementation of Rajiv Awas Yojana and held that as soon as the scheme--aimed at planned development of urban slums-- was launched nation-wide, the state would immediately start working on it. The cabinet which met here today under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot reviewed the progress on preparatory work in this regard.
The cabinet was told that survey for the launch of the scheme had already completed in 115 of the 184 towns and was progressing well in 17 of the remaining towns/cities and would be completed by a month. The state government has sought from the Centre Rs 40 crore for the preparatory works of which Rs 5 crore had already been granted by the latter. Under the scheme a 5-year action plan is to be drawn for providing proper settlement to slum dwellers giving them living conditions with due civil amenities. Besides the reviewing the above scheme, the cabinet also decided to constitute Rajasthan State Child Protection Society and amend section 19 of the Rajasthan Land Reform and Jagir Abolition Act 1952.
