Sachin Tendulkar may get Bharat Ratna

India’s iconic batsman Sachin Tendulkar has been leading the race for Bharat Ratna, country’s highest civilian honour. The government is likely to make the announcement in this regard by Monday evening. Indian batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar along with former West Bengal Chief Minister late Jyoti Basu are in the list for Bharat Ratna. ICC president Sharad Pawar has recommended the name of Tendulkar for the highest Civilian award. Former Maharashtra chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh has also backed Pawar’s move.
Demands for Bharat Ratna to Sachin Tendulkar are coming continuously across the country but it becomes louder after he became first batsman in the world to score a double hundred in ODIs. Not only politicians but former cricketers have also advocated in his favour. Even Tendulkar once expressed his desire to receive the Bharat Ratna. If Tendulkar gets the Bharat Ratna, he will be the first sportsperson and youngest recipient of India’s highest civilian honour.
