Gold Sukh scam, directors arrested

Police arrested two Directors of a multi-level marketing company which allegedly duped people in several parts of the country of around Rs 300 crore,following protests by investors. Gold Sukh Directors Jagdish Sharma and Rameshwar Prasad have been arrested after being questioned, Additional Police Commissioner Karan Sharma said. The company, which had four directors, had a total of 27 offices throughout the country including eight in Rajasthan. It promised investors high returns on their deposit, which they claimed was used to purchase gold, he said. Hundreds of agitated people gathered outside the Gold Sukh company's closed office in civil lines area . The investors had reached the company's office yesterday to collect their promised payment. However, they learnt that they had been deceived by the company.
 Two FIRs were registered with Vidhayakpuri police station against the company, police said, adding the complainants alleged that they had invested in the company on promise of handsome profit but were duped by the firm. The directors of the company shut down their office and closed the company's web site yesterday after protests. Efforts are on to trace the other directors of the company. With the number of victims approaching the police swelling alarmingly, officials said that the police on Thursday arrested seven management employees of the firm after arresting the two directors a day earlier. Searches were carried out at the firm's office where a safe was opened. The police have seized some jewellery from there. "We have started formalities to get the passport of the absconding directors impounded and a red-corner notice issued by the Interpol," said commissioner of police BL Soni.
