Jaipur gears up for Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2012

Pink City, Jaipur is all set to host Pravasi Bharatiya Divas-2012 which will begins from 7th January 2012 in capital. The conclave, a mega-gathering of overseas Indians, is held every year from January 7 to 9 in the country to coincide with the anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s return to India from South Africa. Most Pravasi Bharatiya Divas functions (eight so far) have been held in Delhi while Chennai and Mumbai have hosted it once each. The choice of Jaipur as the next city of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas celebrations was announced by Union Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs Vayalar Ravi in New York at a conclave of Rajasthanis organised by the Rajasthan Association for North America (RANA) over the weekend. 
Rajasthan Chief Minister(CM) Ashok Gehlot welcomes in his message " The Pink City awaits to enchant you with its glorious heritage, colourful art and handicraft, traditional folk dances and melodious folk music.We eagerly look forward to welcome the illustrious sons and daughters of our great nation"
About PBD 2012: Pravasi Bharatiya Divas(PBD) is an annual event jointly organized by the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs (MOIA) and Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) to mark the contribution of overseas Indian community in the development of India. PBD is celebrated on the occasion of the return of Mahatma Gandhi to India from South Africa on January 9, 1915. First held in the year 2003, PBD conventions have seen increasing number of participants every year. The annual convent is held 7–9 January every year in an Indian city, where a forum for issues concerning the Indian Diaspora is organized and distinguished PIOs/NRIs are honoured with the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award for their remarkable achievements. 
PBD 2012 Venue:  Birla Auditorium, The aesthetically designed Birla auditorium is one of the most famous venues of the city. It hosts some of the renowned international events and exhibits. The exhibition center boasts of its multifunctional and flexible areas and of its capability to host different kinds of events. The Birla auditorium is one of the largest auditoriums in India. Its offers unique audio visual education entertainment, auditorium is best location for cultural programs, festivals, art drama performance and trade shows.
