Two college girls run over by truck in Jaipur

Two college girls standing by the roadside were killed Monday when a truck lost control and ran over them in Jaipur, said police. The angry residents of the area blocked the Niwaru Road, where the accident occurred around 2 p.m., for almost two hours saying that accidents were on the rise due police negligence. According to the police, the deceased, identified as Bharati Gupta, 20, and Radhika, 23, were pursuing MCA course from Karni Vihar College, a private college in the city. "They were having a chat on the roadside when the speeding truck ran over them. They died on the spot," a police officer told IANS.
Hundreds of local residents gathered on the road, caught the truck driver and beat him up before handing him to police. The irate residents demanded that police take measures to check accidents in the area.
