Arun Jaitley meet Rajendra Rathore in Jaipur Jail

Arun Jaitley, Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha  meet former minister and party’s chief whip in the assembly Rajendra Rathore who was recently arrested for his alleged involvement in the Dara Singh fake encounter case. Jaitley was in Jaipur on Monday particularly to meet Rathore in the Central Jail. Post-meeting, he announced that the party would leave no stone unturned in fighting the legal battle for Rathore. “I was aware that Rathore was falsely implicated in the case as I had studied the case papers earlier. After meeting him, my belief has strengthened. This is a case of gross abuse of the system and the CBI has implicated him without evidence. In legal terms, it’s a case of no evidence,’’ said Jaitley, while interacting with media persons at the BJP state headquarters.
56-year-old Rathore, a five-time MLA and state BJP whip, was arrested by the CBI on April 5 for his alleged involvement in the fake encounter killing of local liquor smuggler Dara Singh in 2006. Mr. Jaitley was accompanied by party MLAs Digambar Singh, Gyan Dev Ahuja, Radheyshyam Ganganagar and others when he met Mr. Rathore. “I came here to meet our party worker (Rathore). The party’s national president also said that I should go and meet him. I hope that Rathore would be back in active politics soon,” the BJP leader said. Meanwhile, a special CBI court extended the judicial custody of Mr. Rathore till April 24 and reserved its ruling on taking cognisance of the charge sheet against him. Mr. Rathore alleged that he was being implicated falsely in the case at the behest of the Congress government. He claimed that he was not even remotely concerned with Dara Singh, who was allegedly killed by special operation group on the outskirts of Jaipur on October 23, 2006.
