Kanaram Jat is New Rajasthan University President

Kanaram Jat is elected New President of Rajasthan University (RU), Jaipur in Rajasthan University Students Union (RUSU) held on 24th August 2013. Kanaram Jat, who got 3,575 votes, defeated his nearest rival Shefali Meena of NSUI by heavy margin of 1,249 votes. Shewta Yadav and Manish Kumar Meena, both of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, were elected as vice president and joint secretary respectively, while NSUI candidate Abhimanyu Poonia was elected as the general secretary of RUSU. At Jaipur, where one of the main universities - Rajasthan University - is located, police had detained 70 students during polling as a precautionary measure, elections in remaining areas held peacefully across Rajathan.
Student  election 2013 for Rajasthan politics comes as eye opener for two major student unions parties Akhil Bhartiya Vidhyarthi Parishad(ABVP) and National Students Unions of India (NSUI) who fail to perform in Rajasthan except RU. ABVP and NSUI are defeated in major universities by Student federation of India (SFI) and Independent candidates. SFI wins All seats in JNVU Jodhpur under leadership of Mahendra Jakhar while manage to win MGSU, Bikaner president seats. Independent candidates win MLSU Udaipur and MDS Ajmer president seat which is eye opener for political parties in rajasthan before Assembly election by end of this year.
