17 Killed after Electricity Wire Falls on Bus in Tonk, Rajasthan

At least 17 people were killed and 20 others suffered burn injuries when a bus carrying a wedding party came in contact with a high-tension wire in Rajasthan's Tonk district on Friday, according to police. Around 50 people were travelling in the bus from Bachera to Morla village when the accident took place around 2.30pm. A team of 15 doctors from Jaipur's SMS Hospital left for the accident spot to oversee the treatment of those injured. Police and district administration officials have reached the spot, the DC said. The death toll is likely to increase, the SP Deepak Kumar said. Chief minister Vasundhara Raje, who was in Delhi on Friday, rushed a team of ministers to the spot when she learnt about the tragedy. An ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh to the next of the kin of the deceased was announced by the electricity department.
Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has condoled the bus accident in Tonk, Rajasthan. "The bus incident at Tonk, Rajasthan is very heart-rending. My thoughts are with the families of those who lost their lives", the Prime Minister said.
