Farmers call off 13-day long protest, Rajasthan Govt announces Rs 20,000 Crore loan waiver

Farmers have called off their 13-day long protest in Rajasthan after the agreement with the state government Wednesday late night.  Along with this, three day long ChakkaJaam has also been withdrawn by the farmers. Rajasthan government has announced a farm loan waiver of Rs 20,000 crore. The state will waive all farmer loans over Rs 50,000. After study of other states by a high level committee. The committee will submit its report within a month after consultation with all stakeholders. After the announcement, farmers called off protests in Sikar, which were on for 13 days.
The goverment has also been agreed on the farmer's other demands, including electricity at subsidized rates and ensuring the safety of animal traders. On Thursday, after three days, traffic has started on many routes including Sikar and Jhunjhunu. “We regret the inconvenience caused to people due to the stir and asked farmers to end the sit in,” said Communist Party of India (Marxist) MLA Amraram, who was among those representing the farmers.
