Central team to review draught condition in Rajasthan

A 10-member Central government team will arrive here tomorrow to study drought situation in the state and recommend help and assistance for carrying out relief measures. The team would visit different parts of the state, meet people, including farmers and hold discussions with state government officials and elected people's representatives, including Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and top officials of Agriculture, Relief and other concerned departments. The state government has already declared 26 of the total 33 districts in the state as drought hit, and demanded central assistance of over Rs 12,600 crore for effective implementation of relief measures. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh during his Barmer visit on August 29 had already assured the state of full help and cooperation from the Centre for dealing with drought situation.
