Earth Day being observed Worldwide

The Earth Day is being celebrated worldwide on Thursday, a day was first observed in 1970 around 40 years ago to raise awareness about the prevailing environmental challenges. 22nd April 2010 is the 40th anniversary of the Earth Day. It was founded by the US senator Gaylord Nelson as an environment teach-in held on this day in 1970. With over 20 thousand partners and organisation in 190 countries, more than one billion people participate in Earth Day activities, making it the largest secular civic event in the world. Ever since, 22nd April has been used to focus on the Earth’ environmental challenges such as climate change, pollution and water quality and an overall appreciation of our land and environment.
