Bharat Bandh affect normal life in State

Bharat Bandh called by BJP and other opposition parties affect normal life in Rajasthan. Most of market in Jaipur is closed and police is on alert so that normal people do not get affected by band. Special police force is placed on Jaipur- ajmer highways and other national highways. While the common man will face a lot of trouble in getting to the office in the morning as political parties enforce the so-called 'Bharat Bandh', Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee has indicated that he is not going to drop the hike in prices saying, “There is no question of a rollback.” The National Democratic alliance led by the BJP has indicated that if Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the UPA government are unable to roll back the hike, or control inflation, then they “Have no business of staying on in power”. That this bandh is different is clear from the fact that almost all opposition parties, in all 17, including the Left, are participating in it.
Schools and colleges remained closed in Jaipur and markets were shut. Public transport, except for state roadways buses, remained off the roads, leaving commuters stranded. Flights and train services were unaffected. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers disrupted vehicular movement on some roads, causing jams at Choti Chaupar, Badi Chaupar and Sodala areas. As part of the protest, BJP activists closed shops and disrupted other services in the state. "The bandh was peaceful with minor skirmishes between protesters and police in some areas of the city," a police official said. BJP general secretary and former chief minister Vasudhara Raje and senior party leaders Ram Das Agrawal and state BJP president Arun Chaturvedi courted arrest here.
