Rajasthan's asian games hero gets warm welcome

Asian Games gold medallist Bajrang Lal Takhar, who belongs to Sikar, being welcomed at Sanganer airport on his return to India from Guangzhou on Friday. Apart from Takhar, Rajasthan’s Satish Joshi and Giriraj Singh, who won silver and bronze in rowing, were also given a warm welcome at the airport and later at CMO by Ashok Gehlot.
The state government is planning to present its medal winners in the Asian Games, being held at Guangzhou, China, as role models to promote sports in Rajasthan. Chief minister Ashok Gehlot, on Friday, instructed the sports department to organise a public ceremony for all medal winners in the Asiad. Rajasthan bagged two gold, two silver and a bronze medal in different sporting events held in the Asian Games this year. Gehlot personally met the medal winners from Rajasthan, in Jaipur on Friday. Principal secretary Rohit Kumar Singh said that the state government intends to organise a public ceremony to felicitate the medal winners in Asiad. Sources in the government said that Gehlot wanted a similar function organised to felicitate discus thrower Krishna Poonia who won a gold medal in the Commonwealth Games held in Delhi, earlier this year.
