Armed men looted 8 Lakh from Vijaya Bank in Orrisa

Armed men looted around Rs 8 lakh from a Vijaya Bank branch here after locking its employees in a room at gun point today. Four men entered the bank in the heart of the industrial town soon after it opened in this morning on the pretext of making drafts and threatened the employees with pistols, Jharsuguda Superintendent of Police Kavita Jalan said. The bank employees were locked in a room by the armed men, who also took away their mobile phones, she said. They snatched away bank keys from the staff and looted the cash. No resistance could be put up as the bank branch did not have guards and the Oriya speaking looters walked away with the cash after locking the main door from outside, the SP said.
