Rajasthan Gujjars to hold dharna for reservation

In a bid to revive quota stir, the All India Gujjar Reservation Action Committee will hold dharna at Garhmora in Karauli district tomorrow to press up on its six point demand charter that includes the demand of 5 per cent special reservation to Gujjars and three other most backward castes (MBC). Talking to reporters here today Action Committee President former MLA Ramvir Singh Bidhuri said despite the commitment over the community's demands, by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and his predecessor Vasundhara Raje the community's demands still stood unresolved. 'This is true that former Chief Minister Ms Raje made the Gujjar issue complicated by linking quota demand with EBCs reservation but this is also equally correct that the Gehlot Government also failed to make headway to keep commitment over the demands'', Mr Bidhuri said. Besides the reservation quota, demands of withdrawal of cases against Gujjars, release of jailed activists, pension to those who sustained grave injuries during the stir, allocation of Rs 500 crore for development of Gujjar dominated pockets in the state and creation of Gujjar Regiment in the Army, still stood unresolved, Mr Bidhuri said.
