Temp further down in Rajasthan, Churu records 1.9 degree C

Churu in Rajasthan became the coldest place in the plains as the mercury dipped to 1.9 degrees Celsius while intense cold in Himachal Pradesh has frozen the entire tribal belt of the state. At Mount Abu--the only hill station in Rajasthan--the mercury was hovering below the freezing point for the past 4-5 days. The temperature, however, rose negligibly from minus -1.6 degrees to minus -1.2 degrees this morning, Met Office said. Icy winds sweeping Rajasthan for the past few days caused further fall of one to three degrees in night temperatures at most places, the weatherman said.
Besides Churu, people in another Shekhawati town of Sikar also shivered under 4 degrees while the adjoining town of Pilani recorded 5 degrees. Likewise, Jodhpur recorded a minimum temperature of 5.4 degrees, followed by Ganganagar (5.9 degrees), Jaipur (7.2 degrees) and Chittorgarh and Jaisalmer (7.6 degrees), the weatherman said. In some parts of Himachal Pradesh the temperature remained below 6 degree Celsius.
